The Suite Edit started with a small frustration: the distance between how a hotel photographs and how it actually feels to fall asleep there. Glossy press shots and paid-for rankings rarely tell you whether a room is worth the rate — so we decided to find out ourselves, one stay at a time.

Today we cover boutique and design hotels around the world — the considered, independently minded places where architecture, service and a sense of place actually come together. We care as much about the cut of the light at 7am as we do about the thread count, and we write for travellers who feel the same.

Every review is a first-person account of a real stay, documented with our own photography and written without affiliate noise. When a stay is hosted, we say so. The promise is simple: an honest read on whether a hotel earns its place — and yours.
